Through a significant number of publications, participation in EU projects and other international R&amp;D projects, the unit acquired experience and global competence in the field of Applied Electromagnetics and Energy Conversion.<\/p>\n<p>Application of advanced materials in the design, construction, and testing of novel electrical machines has been the core of our research in the last 24 years, now represented by the research developed at <a href=\"https:\/\/istpowerlab.wixsite.com\/e2tes\">E<sup>2<\/sup>TES<\/a> (Energy Efficient Technologies in Electrical Systems) founded by Associate <a href=\"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-7072-5184\">Prof. Paulo Branco<\/a> and Assistant <a href=\"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-9674-5490\">Prof. Jo\u00e3o Fernandes<\/a>, currently having <a href=\"https:\/\/istpowerlab.wixsite.com\/e2tes\/team\">6 Ph.D. students<\/a> and 15 M.Sc. students.<\/p>\n<p>The E2TES&#8217;s team has been actively engaged in development of New magnetic materials and&nbsp;<em>Superconductivity Applications for Electric Power Systems <\/em>for the past 15 years as a) superconducting fault current limiters, b) magnetic levitation systems, c) design of&nbsp; electromechanical energy converters, d) the development of 2D\/3D multiphysics finite-element-modeling of novel magnetic and HTS materials and e) cryogenic conventional and superconducting electrical machines.
